Working Together - Designers and Themers

AdaptiveThemes is a collaborative project. Designers and Themers join forces to produce the themes we sell, so its no different to your usual everyday work with other web development professionals.

Iterative Approach

We would like to encourage all participants to take an iterative approach to theme development where designer and themer work closely together phasing the development through cycles towards the finished product. In short the iterative approach is a revisioning strategy where each cycle of development is revised for further refinement. This allows both parties to spot potential problems and make small changes along the way, rather than one huge revision process at the end.

Development Sites

Each themer will be set up with their own theme development environment on http://drupalstaging.com. This is an Acquia Drupal multisite install with many modules for you the install and use on your testing site. Themers will post the iterations of the theme on their dev site so both parties can review the progress. It is entirely up to you how you run this site, although I would encourage you to run it in offline mode and perhaps create some nodes with comments enabled for discussions.

Communication

Its vital we keep our communication lines open. Share your email, IM and phone number with the designer or themer you are working with. If you live in the same city consider meeting for coffee.

We are all professionals here and each of us expects to be treated as such. If you have problems there is always a way to work things out, so lets keep things professional.
